Typed manuscript by artist K.G. Subramanyan, a version of which was published under the same title in Moving Focus: Essays on Indian Art that was compiled by Gulammoahmmed Sheikh, and was published by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, in 1978.

K.G. Subramanyan had first delivered a lecture based on this text at the Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, in 1972. The text was published subsequently in Year 3, No.4-5 of the Vrishchik magazine that was edited by Gulammohammed Sheikh and Bhupen Khakhar, and was published by Vrishchik Publications, Baroda, in February-March 1971-1972.
