This is the second in our South Asia Talk Series and part of October Contemporary Program. Prof. Salima Hashmi, Dean of School of Visual Arts at the Beaconhouse National University at Lahore, is one of the most noted scholars on contemporary art from Pakistan.

Hashmi taught at the National College of Arts, Lahore, for 30 years in the capacity of Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor of Fine Arts. A painter and curator, Hashmi also co-founded the Rohtas Gallery in Islamabad, established in 1981, and Rohtas-2 in Lahore. She is a well-known broadcaster for television, and a documentary filmmaker. Hashmi will talk about the current generation of contemporary artists who are fast gaining international recognition with their transformation of the traditional medium of the miniature painting.
