This is the catalogue for Ye YongQing's solo exhibition at Chinese Contemporary in London. Ye Yongqing's work is singularly individualist in contemporary Chinese art which finds itself dominated by realist oil paintings. Ye's paintings are composed of brightly coloured fragments in primary colours or black and white, with bits of legible writings and caricatures of people. Julie Coleman comments in her essay that the artist presents the viewers with visual fragments or literal equivalent of words from a sentence or paragraphs from a novel and the viewers are left to fill in the rest. The catalogue includes artist's statement and biography.
