Elements from this work were first shown in the exhibition entitled 'Memorial: an installation with photographs and sculpture' (1993). This image captures a reconfiguration of objects featured in that exhibition, completed in 1995. The artwork was eventually also remade in 2000, and was shown in the exhibition entitled 'Bombay/Mumbai' in 'Century City: Art and Culture in the Modern Metropolis' (2001) at Tate Modern, London, United Kingdom.

'The photographic image of an anonymous victim of the '92-'93 Mumbai riots is enshrined/compacted in a box that resembles the metal container on the road seen in the original news photograph. Mounted on an everyday municipal trolley, the split-open configuration can also be interpreted as a compressed coffin. Serious irony underlies the allegorical/documentary mode of this sculpture that enjoins the viewer to contemplate the death of a person, and that of humanity itself.'
