'New Indian Art: Home-Street-Shrine-Bazaar-Museum' was held at Manchester Art Gallery, from 13 July - 1 September 2002. This exhibition was part of the 'ArtSouthAsia- the First International Programme of Visual Culture Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka 2002'coordinated by SHISHA (South Asian Crafts and Visual Arts Agency). The Indian section titled 'New Indian Art: Home-Street-Shrine-Bazaar-Museum' was curated by Gulammohammed Sheikh. Jyotindra Jain was the Curatorial Associate for the rural and tribal arts. The participating artists were: Gopal Chitrakar, Tapan Chitrakar, Montu Chitrakar,Ganga Devi, Kumudini Devi, Yashoda Devi, Atul Dodiya, Anita Dube, Madhusree Dutta, Shilpa Gupta,Subodh Gupta, Sanat Ram Lohar, Ramji Ram Mandavi,Pushpamala N, Surendran Nair, Madhvi Parekh, Ram Rahman, Anandajit Ray, Ravinder G. Reddy, N.N. Rimzon, Nilima Sheikh, Shyam Sundar, Sundari Bai, Kendu Ram, K.G. Subramanyan and an unknown scroll painter from Bengal.
