Letter related to the exhibition 'Third Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, 1999'. (APT-3)

Context

'Third Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, 1999' was presented by the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane from 9 September 1999 to 26 January 2000. It presented art works by more than 77 artists from 20 countries and regions around the central theme 'Beyond the Future'. The artworks covered a range of media including performance, sculpture, painting, installation, textile, video, new technology and photography. Participating artists were from Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, India, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Australia and, for the first time, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Niue, and Wallis and Futuna Islands. Gulammohammed Sheikh was the Co-curator for the Curatorial Team for India. The Australian Curators appointed for India (as part of the South Asian Curatorial Team) were Michael Brand, Assistant Director, Curatorial and Collection Development, Queensland Art Gallery; Alison Carroll, Director, Arts Program, Asialink and Suhanya Raffel, Assistant Curator(Contemporary Asian Art) Queensland Art Gallery.
