Frog King on a bridge in Shanghai, flying a string of plastic bag above the river. The happening is part of the Kwok in Shanghai project that took place during the artist's visit to China, April 1979.
Kwok in Shanghai, together with Kwok in Beijing, are sometimes referred as 'Plastic Bag Happenings in China'. The specific medium of plastic bag is a seminal element in Frog King's artistic practice. The material, versatile, light, and abundant in its amount, has inspired experimentations of its three-dimensionality. It is subsequently utilised as an alternative form of sculpture in the artist's performance/happening.
