An exhibition review of the Chinese Trade Paintings on display at the Museum of Art on City Hall's 10th floor which also showcased the newly acquired series of 19th century paintings in gouache on paper, done for the export trade in a manner that is basically Western but retains aspects of Chinese painting styles. Cameron remarked on the collection of painting which the museum is gradually gathering from South China that are inspired by the incursion of the West and designed, mostly, to satisfy the Western desire for a record of the still mysterious land into which they are so rudely irrupted.
