A review of two exhibitions, tracing the evolution of American art from 1908 to 1935 and that after the Second World War respectively. N.C. commented that the works in the exhibitions were disappointing because they were not the absolute best of any artist chosen. He also made a broader comment on American art as a whole, saying that American art before the Second World War was merely following and adopting that of Europe. However, it became monumentally original, especially that which was produced in New York after the Second World War.
