'Buddha Enlightened' is a project which reinvents and engages the site of Buddha’s enlightenment (Bodh Gaya) in term of site-specific works by the artist from all over the world. The whole idea of the project is to explore the possibilities through interaction, understanding, mutual respect, tolerance, and the other means and the values of human existence. The present catalogue includes essays by Meera Menezes, Stephen Wright and Ram Swarup Singh, and writings by the participating artists.

In this Project the international artists of different backgrounds and Nationality (linguistic, ethnic and cultural), are suggested to express through their work of art in the context of present world situation and human conditions. Participating artist may work in any specified or unspecified medium which suits to them as a site specific works such as Paintings, Sculpture, Installation, Performance, New Media Art etc. The Artists are free to explore and experiment in their work in any medium but it is expected by the organisers that the sanctity of the site should be respected.

The participating artists are expected to work with any material other than plastic. The Organiser will take care of all facilities for the artists including working spaces, materials, lodging and boarding. (Artists can also bring their own material if they need any particular material for particular work) The artists are requested to submit the list of the material to the organiser in advance with their participation confirmation.
The time period for the project is Oct-Nov 2006.
