This catalogue accompanies the exhibition 'Cai Guo-Qiang: Fallen Blossoms,' held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) and The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM), Philadelphia, from December 2009 to March 2010. Inspired by the enduring relationship between Marion Boulton Stroud and Anne d'Harnoncourt, the artist conceived the project as spanning across histories and places, anchored his work in the memories and life stories of Stroud and d'Harnoncourt. In other words, the exhibition serves as a lament for the loss of d'Harnoncourt, who passed away unexpectedly during the initial stage of 'Fallen Blossoms.' Includes four texts written by Carlos Basualdo, Marion Boulton Stroud, David Elliott and Wang Mingxian, plus the artist's inscriptions of the multiple works, completed between 2007 and 2010, ranging from the explosion project at PMA's east entrance to his celebrated gunpowder drawings, and two major installations shown in FWM.

Includes artist's biography and bibliography.
