This is the catalogue for Cheung Yee’s solo exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art in 1993. Writing about the significance of Cheung’s art, the curator of the show writes, ‘Cheung Yee was one of the pioneers to introduce modern ideas into Chinese sculpture in the fifties and sixties… From an international context, Cheung Yee is the first Chinese sculptor to bring before an international audience modern sculptures impregnated with Chinese ideas… Cheung’s art is rooted in the metropolitan culture of Hong Kong, and he is one of the artists who succeeds in blending the East and the West in his art.’ A detailed biography of the artist is included in this publication.
