The Xi'an Qujiang International Contemporary Art Festival was held from August to October 2009, in one of the world's four largest ancient capitals. 'China Revisualized' refers to Xi'an as a symbol of China's traditional visual culture in a contemporary setting while the title 'The Banner of Urban Culture' highlights the efforts of the city to become a national leader in developing creative talent. It has five main sections: Image & Digital Art, Performance & Live Art, Painting, Sculpture, Installation and Object, and Performing Arts, with over 100 artists from 20 countries and areas taking part.
