Chinese Artists of Today: Fang Lijun

Fang Lijun grew up during the Cultural Revolution, began his art career after the Tiananmen Square Event in 1989 and won world fame since the 1990s. Many artists emigrated to the West, but Fang stayed in China facing the fact that his works could not be exhibited. According to Mark Sherp, Fang Lijun's paintings cannot be understood without drawing in his teenage experience during the Cultural Revolution. For Fang, the experience is influential in his personal life and also his life as an artist. The present monograph of Fang Lijun provides essays and interviews by international and local scholars and art critics, with the artist's chronology and biography.

方力鈞成長於文革期間，89天安門事件後，他逐漸在畫壇上嶄露頭角，自90年代起更馳譽國際。在許多藝術家移居西方之際，方力鈞雖面臨無法公開展出其作品的命運，但仍堅持留在祖國。誠如馬克．舍普所言：「只有結合他少年時代在『文革』期間的個人經歷，才能理解他的畫。」對方力鈞而言，該時的所見所聞對其個人生活及藝術生涯無疑影響深遠。本畫冊選錄了海內外若干知名學者和藝評人的評論及訪談錄，並附有藝術家的創作年表及簡歷。
