This is a monograph of the artist Choi Chor-foo who was born in China in 1942, stayed in Hong Kong for a brief period during the 1970s and moved to the United States in 1979. In his landscape paintings presented here, one finds the combination of the Western and Chinese modes of painting in which the impasto pigment is laid stroke by stroke onto the canvas to give form to the mounds and the hills, a practice similar to that of the Chinese ‘cun’ (brushstroke) in traditional landscape paintings. Biographical information of the artist is provided.
