This book seeks to introduce the general reader to contemporary art in Singapore. It is an attempt to provide an informative and concise overview of current Singaporean artistic practice, and through the presentation and discussion of the work of a broad selection of artists, hopes to encourage a more informed reading and reception of such practices. By profiling each artist in some depth, the book also aims to provide insights into the specifics of individual practices, while collectively mapping a diverse, inevitably interconnected art scene that also feeds into an increasingly translocal art world, with links across the globe. Images of works in the book are accompanied by individual texts and artist biographies.
