The contemporary art market in Japan might be experiencing an awakening.  101 Tokyo claims to be Japan's first truly international contemporary-only event, and organizers are hopeful that the art fair will become an annual event.   Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara have raised the profile of contemporary art in Japan and will hopefully bring international recognition to the Tokyo art scene.
