This catalogue is published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Fantastic Illusions' held at MoCA Shanghai and Broelmuseum Kortrijk featuring seven Belgian and six Chinese artists who construct illusory spaces that engage with spectators. Short texts accompany each exhibiting artist's work. Introductions to the exhibition's organizers are also provided.

"The title of the exhibition alludes to the human desire to be admitted to a world that is out of the ordinary, a world of fantasy. Considering the philosophical developments in the 20th century the least of the tasks of the critical artist is to create illusions.
