'The first monograph on the work of rising international contemporary artist Gonkar Gyatso, Three Realms is a beautifully illustrated book with three commissioned essays covering the period 2003–2012. It features 38 works exhibited at the UQ Art Museum, Institute of Modern Art (IMA) and Griffith University Art Gallery (GUAG), and significant works from private and public collections, including Queensland Art Gallery (Brisbane), White Rabbit Collection (Sydney), Roundabout (Tel Aviv/NZ) and The Burger Collection (Switzerland).

'Three Realms surveys three key interpretive areas around Gyatso’s practice: the personal, the political, and the popular, referring not only to popular culture, but also to his standing within the trajectory of Pop art. Essays include an analysis of the artist and his work as an exemplar of political agency by leading scholar and writer Professor Maura Reilly (New York / Queensland College of Art, Griffith University); an extended narrative borne of many interviews over time with Gyatso by Savita Apte (Singapore); and a text by curator Simon Wright considering the work within the expanded context of Pop art.'
