Presented at the Shanghai Biennale in 2002, Here? Or there? was a collaborative project of Wang Gongxin and Lin Tianmiao. The artist-couple began working on the project almost ten years after their return to China from the US. 'It is an installation of mannequins wearing costumes combining fabric with human hair and images of human skin set along side video of models parading the costumes in the quiet corners of a nondescript city. Floating through the world, but touching or saying nothing, the models appear and disappear like ghosts...' - extracted from Benjamin Genocchio's review on the inside flap of the cover.
