A compilation of events presented at the third edition of 'Home Works: A Forum on Cultural Practices' taken place in Beirut, Lebanon from 17 to 24 November 2005.

'Home Works: A Forum on Cultural Practices is a multidisciplinary platform that takes place in Beirut, Lebanon every 2-3 years. Launched by Ashkal Alwan in 2002, Home Works has evolved into one of the most vibrant platforms for contemporary cultural practices in the Arab region and internationally.

Artists, curators, writers, thinkers, and cultural practitioners gather for ten days in order to share their works, which take the form of exhibitions, lectures, panels, artists’ talks, screenings, workshops and publications, as well as theatre, dance and music performances.

Presented in 2005, the third edition of the Home Works Forum was a reflection on the notion of our presence in this world, reconstituted in narrative and representation. We must assert the fact that we are not merely a face caught on a security camera, a stamp on a passport, a fingerprint filed in a court, a visa denied, a stereotype confirmed, or a silent misunderstanding hardened into an unspeakable fact. Our faces do not implore to be saved; our faces are beautiful.' - from publisher's website.

This publication includes transcripts of lectures and panel discussions; and descriptions of performances, artist talks, exhibitions, video and film screenings, projects and publications presented in the forum.
