'In 1001 Martian Homes, Tintin Wulia constructs a matrix of stories within a story based on an imagined future. Placing present-day 2017 some three generations in the past. She contemplates recurring patterns in history about human movements through time, places and space to re-imagine the meanings of "borders," "space," "time," and "connectivity." The exhibition takes place in two constructed sets, which have been replicated in the cities of Venice and Jakarta. Each set houses three interrelated installations, each of which corresponds to an identical counterpart in the other city in real time, via a system of Internet-connected cameras and video projections. Only through visitors' participatory encounters can 1001 Martian Homes be interlaced into its entirety.' — from inside front cover
