"'Into the '80: Contemporary Hong Kong Painting', organised by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, features the works done in recent years by 13 Hong Kong painters. Among these invited participants we find pioneers of modern art movement in Hong Kong side by side with young artists recently returned from abroad. They may have come from different artistic background or have pursued different creative ideals, yet they all take Hong Kong as the base of their artistic careers. Even though the scope of the present exhibition may not be able to encompass the diversity of Hong Kong art scene, together they project a lively picture of Hong Kong painting in the '80s, and will provide us with some clues as to its development."
