In the paintings presented in this catalogue of Wilson Shieh's second solo exhibition at Grotto Fine Art, the artist is shown to have inspired by a phenomenon during a period of time in colonial Hong Kong - the 1950s and 1960s - when there was an active import of culture and goods from Nanyang, a term used to describe the region of island states and countries to the south of the Asian continent.
