This book presents the Abe Video Synthesizer Restoration Project by the Nam June Paik Art Center from March to November 2011. Its aim was to restore the functionality of the video synthesizer created collaboratively by Nam June Paik and Shuya Abe. This analogue device, which includes a colorizer and scan modulator, can be used to manipulate and distort video imagery in real-time. In 1974 it was used to produce Video Commune, a live television show broadcast on WGBH Boston.

Texts on the the production of the Paik-Abe Video Synthesizer in the 1970's, including Nam June Paik's own writings, as well as original diagrams of the video synthesizer, and explanations of the restored device are included. The CVs of technicians Shuya Abe and Jung Sung Lee are provided.
