This book tells the story of Svay Ken and his wife following the events and adventures of their faimly as they live through the tumultuous last sixty years of Cambodia's history. As a hotel waiter working in Phnom Penh for more than thrity years, Svay began to paint everyday Cambodian life during the last years of work at the hotel when he was about sixty years old. After his wife died in 2000, he wrote what he called 'the story of her life'. At the invitation of Reyum Institute of Arts and Culture, he began to paint pictures to go along with his written text. This book and the accompanying exhibition are the culmination of the project. The exhibition was held at Reyum Institute of Arts and Culture in June 2001.
