'The Sixth National Paintings Exhibition of China was held in October 1984, which was sponsored jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and Artists' Association of China. The exhibition was taking place simultaneously in nine of the major cities and there were 3724 paintings on display which were divided into 15 categories.
