Published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Tradition Transformed: Tibetan Artists Respond' held at the Rubin Museum of Art, New York, between June and October 2010. It is the first major survey of Tibetan contemporary artists to be held in a New York museum. The nine artists featured each explore contemporary issues—personal, political, and cultural—by integrating the centuries-old traditional imagery, techniques, and materials found in Tibetan Buddhist art with modern influences and media.
