Xue Jiye is fascinated by the past: ‘I miss the past. In the past, people used different ways to think and to communicate. Modern life has lowered our levels of perception, and even our feelings have become standardized’. The works presented in this exhibition catalogue are visual representations of Xue’s search for the past through the act of reminiscence. Combining realism and surrealism, the artist explores the relationship and boundaries between real and unreal, between reality and memories/dreams. Artist's biography is included.
