Alien(gener)ation, Lanna Version was an attempt to explore the social transformation between the past and present of Lanna, the northern region of Thailand by introducing younger generation artists whose works deal with their identity to negotiate with their own personal politics as a so-called northerner. There were various kind of art forms focused on their everyday life, philosophy and contemporary culture.

This exhibition showed the search of a missing link between the past and the present of Lanna culture and lifestyle by younger generation. There were multi layers perspectives of individual who were originally from Lanna region and left their hometown to resettle outside of the region, who’s from outside of the province and countries and spend sometimes in this region to reflect their experiences within contemporary Lana contexts. These group of artists represented the population of Northern cities, which consisted of native people, guests, and foreign guests who integrated themselves successfully into our everyday lives.
