A drawing by Vu Dan Tan on a magazine page. It depicts 'American lamps', oil lamps from Vietnam that were used during the war with America. The work was exhibited at 'Kitchen Art', a group show took place at Salon Natasha, 1994.
‘Kitchen Art’ took place on the weekend before Christmas in 1994. It was initiated by Eric Leroux, aiming to create a festive and playful ambience in the Salon during Christmas and the upcoming New Year. The exhibition attempted to explore the more decorative aspect of kitchen utensils, taking them out of its stereotypical utilitarian context. It featured works such as painted teapots, recycled soft-drink cans, and paintings of kitchen utensils.
Participating artists of the exhibition include: Eric Leroux, Vu Dan Tan, Mai Chi Thanh, Tran Thieu Quang, René Schlosser, and Maritta Nurmi.
