This catalogue reviews the ninth ARCUS Project (2003), which aims to communicate with local residents via art and cultural programmes. The project is comprised of four parts: the artist-in-residence programme, the internship programme, the communication programme and art seminars.
For the artist-in-residence programme of the project, five artists from five different countries were invited to stay and create artworks in the ARCUS Studio. Later on the artists held workshops for children through an internship programme developed in conjunction with the Toyko National University of Fine Arts and Music. Other artists involved in the workshops of the communication programme were Takahito Kimura, Toshiaki Tomita, Hiroshi Suminaka and Takahide Mizuuchi. There were also art seminars lectured by Mitsuhiro Yoshimoto, Yasuhiko Tsutsumi, Katsuhiko Hibino and Tsukasa Mori.
Featured in this catalogue are outline of the project events, profiles of the participating artists, reviews of their activities at ARCUS and documentation of the art seminars, internship and communication programmes.
