A collection of interviews with 14 contemporary Chinese artists and photographers. This book looks into the dilemma between photography as an art form and photography as a means of artistic expression in contemporary Chinese photography.
Through dialogues with the photographers about their personal creative history, their use of photographic language and the motivation on using photography as the primary medium, the author portrays a panoramic view of the artists' thoughts on photography, culture and the current social condition.
Each interivew is accompanied by a short commentary on the work of the artist. With artists biographies and works.
