This catalogue is published in conjunction with Ahsan Jamal's solo exhibition at Rohtas Gallery, Lahore and Islamabad.
'At Rohtas Gallery, Ahsan Jamal presents a series of paintings in which he depicts goats that are prepared to be sacrificed. The artist takes this ritualistic duty that is expected from every Muslim if s/he is able to afford it and uses it as a metaphor for larger issues plaguing the contemporary society in Pakistan. He wants to use his art to comment on the social and political scenario in his surroundings, and offers his viewpoint on what he thinks is happening.' - from essay by Dr. Atteqa Ali
