'Mobile M+: Yau Ma Tei' is the first in a series of pre-opening 'nomadic' exhibitions presented by M+, the new museum of visual culture in the West Kowloon Cultural District, from 15 May to 10 June 2012. Employing the technique of storytelling and visual narration, the exhibition consists of 6 large-scale installations by 7 Hong Kong-based artists in various spaces in Yau Ma Tei, including shops, offices, a park and an empty lot under a flyover.
This catalogue includes essays on each of the artists’ oeuvre in relation to their installations; a series of comic strips by Li Chi-tak in response to the artists’ proposals; and writings, photographs and archival images documenting the thinking and process behind the works. Texts by the curatorial team are also included. With biographies of artists and contributors.
Note: A digital version of the catalogue is available on the exhibition's website at http://www.mobile-mplus.hk/yaumatei/exhib.html.
