Teo Eng Seng is a Singaporean artist who has invented 'paperdyesculp', a colourful medium based on paper pulp. After he abandoned oil painting in 1979, his experimentation gave birth to the novel medium. Later on, he has also extended his oeuvre to include both performance and installation art.

The book, spanned more than fifty years of continuous creative activity, from the mid-1950s until the present, is an explication on the works of Teo Eng Seng by T. K. Sabapathy from two aspects. The first is how teaching - both being the student and being the teacher - has been essential to the artist's practice. The second is Teo's own artistic journey, within painting from portraiture toward the abstract, and then from painting into sculpture, and his development of paperdyesculp.
