The architectural history of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum reveals a considerate amount of balancing between the imperatives of modernization and local identity. The two sections of this book attempt to give a full picture of the sources of inspiration for the TFAM design, its underlying concepts, its creation process, as well as the significance it has had for the history of Taiwanese architecture. The first section considers the building's architectural form, whereas the second is a special collection of documents related to the building's design from 1976 to 1984.
