PageNEXT organises a cultural exchange trip to Taipei in collaboration with youth volunteers from the Bamboo Curtain Studio, Taiwan. Participants aim to compare the development trajectories of contemporary art and culture in Taiwan and Hong Kong through visits to art spaces and creative communities, interactions with local youth, and public programmes.

Make a Circle | Sat, June 4 | 7pm
Venue: Bamboo Curtain Studio, No.39, Ln. 88, Sec.2, Zhongzheng E. Rd., Danshui Dist., New Taipei City 251

Bamboo Curtain Studio hosts PageNEXT members and presents a welcoming ceremony. PageNEXT presents a short film produced by its members, which shows various facets of Hong Kong through their eyes.

Due to limited space, the programme is primarily by invitation. If interested, please send an email via pagenext@aaa.org.hk by 1 Jun.

Have a Bite | Mon, June 6 | 7pm
Venue: Halfway Café, 1/F, No.9, Ln. 269, Sec.51, Roosevelt Road Rd., Da'an District, Taipei

What typically represents ‘a taste’ of Hong Kong? PageNEXT takes over the Halfway Café to prepare dinner, utilising local Taiwanese ingredients. They offer several homemade dishes common in Hong Kong for guests to sample, share stories on food, and discuss.

About:
PageNEXT consists of local university students and graduates with a passion for art and social issues. The volunteer group actively organises art programmes for peers to encourage new thinking in contemporary art and explore the role of art in society.

The Bamboo Curtain Studio (BCS) in Taiwan aims to promote cross-cultural exchanges by providing a meeting point for visitors from national and international art-related fields, for short visits or specific projects. It endeavors to promote cross-cultural exchanges by lifting barriers, and provides a creative environment for needed time, space, and facilities for production, residencies onsite, serving artists in their research, testing and trial-runs of their products and services. In 2010, BCS worked with curator Wu Mali to initiate the project Art as Environment – A Cultural Action at the Plum Tree Creek to examine social issues via artistic practices, through which urban sustainability, environmental preservation, and community engagement were addressed.

Halfway Café is a coffee shop that features six different chefs each night, while exploring ideas behind food culture.
